The Skin Matters 2008 Survey was published the other days. It was conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Retin-A Micro Pump. The Survey is a comprehensive analysis of acne-related topics and treatment conditions in general. So, no doubt, it may be a matter of interest for the people with acne comedoniano. The Survey emphasizes the following. In spite of the fact that acne usually considered to be a problem of young people, teenagers in particular, results from an innovative national study show that acne is a problem of grownups as well. According to the survey, the problem of acne negatively affects different aspects of a person’s life. And the lack of elementary knowledge prevents from choosing suitable options for acne treatment. The survey says that grownups suffering from acne confirm that their condition affects different aspects of their lives. Some of them say that it affects their mood, is the reason of their low self-esteem, and prevents from multiple social, business and intimate life. The results of the survey demonstrate that nowadays grownups suffering from acne comprise one-half of the patients. And the number of patients among this group has substantially increased (up to 66%) as compared with the previous year. According to the survey, one in five women suffering from acne is between 25 and 40 years old. And this age group suffers more severely because in this case acne may cause stress and even depression for these people. But at the same time the survey reveals that the acne problem does not inevitably influences the mode of behavior of sick people. Some patients suffering from mild acne will not go out or take part in social activities during a breakout. On the contrary, the others suffering from more severe acne seem to pay no attention to it and go on their every day activities. They survey says that it is the dermatologists’ responsibility to talk with the patients, to give them all the necessary information about acne and the treatment, help them to overcome, if not to avoid, stress and emotional discomfort. According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), every case of acne can be treated. At the same time the surveys emphasizes that drinking lots of water or strong brushing of one’s face can not help to fight acne. Although this survey is devoted to the problem of acne in general, I am sure that it can be of interest for all the people suffering from acne comedoniano, in particular.
